Genesis runs a dodgy punter scheme which allows women to report
assaults anonymously if preferred. This ensures that the information
can be logged by the police and the information can be shared with
other workers to help them keep safe from known violent men. If you
have either been assaulted or have concerns about one of your punters
then please contact one of the workers to report your concerns and
allow us to share this information with other women.
Thanks to this
scheme and several women reporting assaults to us, three serial
offenders have been convicted of their offences over recent years.
Please view the related download opposite for the most recent assaults
to date. You can also access information on dodgy punters in the
drop-in, on the outreach health bus and during worker's visists to
saunas and flats.
If
you choose to put in a formal statement against the perpetrator, we can
support you through this process by attending appointments with you and
helping to make sure that you understand the process. See
attached download opposite as an example of what information Genesis
would need.
Genesis
can also offer a safety
leaflet free of charge for indoor and outdoor work around safety
whilst working. Please contact the office for your copy, or
request one from one of the workers when you see them next or you can
collect one from our outreach van or drop in session. Our safety
leaflet is also available to other organisations - if you would like to
use this within your own project then please contact the office on the
number below.
