Genesis offers a confidential service providing information, support and advocacy on both a short and long-term basis. We are able to provide information on a wide variety of issues related to sex work, particularly sexual health and safety issues. Our approach is to enable our service users to take more control of their lives and adopt healthier, more fulfilling lifestyles. We access our clients via our twice weekly drop-ins, twice weekly outreach work on the streets and pre-arranged visits to indoor workers in flats, saunas and their own homes. 

We offer more intensive one to one work with individuals and through our joint working initiatives provide practical support with key health issues for our client group such as hepatitis B vaccinations, needle exchange and harm minimisation advice, cap fittings, pregnancy tests, chlamydia and gonorrhoea testing and information about other sexually transmitted infections.  We facilitate their access to other services both statutory and non-statutory, such as health projects, housing, drugs projects, legal systems and further education.

We are committed to raising the awareness of individuals, in other organisations and the community, to the complex issues faced by this group and ultimately challenge the discrimination and social exclusion experienced by the women and young people who access our sevices.

We provide information and support with:

• Sexual Health, including free condoms, pregnancy tests, termination, gonorrhoea and chlamydia screening with rapid access to the Centre for Sexual Health where needed
• Safer working practices
• Drug use and where to get help locally - facilitating fast-track access to drug and alcohol treatment programme via specialist drugs worker.
• Women experiencing violence
• Housing and benefits
• Legal issues, court appearances etc
• Reporting incidents to the police
• Emotional support and short term counselling in partnership with ADS
  
• General advice and support
• Access to education/training and employment
• Support with exiting and ‘moving on’
