Genesis has a small board of trustees with a mix of knowledge and
skills that supports our work. In the attachment opposite are details of
becoming a trustee, hours involved and what it means.
If you are interested? The next steps are to arrange a meeting by contacting a member of the Board:
· Teela Sanders, Chair, can be contacted on
t.l.m.sanders@leeds.ac.uk
or through the Genesis office: 0113 243 0036 -
info@genesisleeds.org.uk
· Kate Brown, Vice Chair, can be contacted thorough the Genesis office as above
Genesis Trustees are:
Dr. Teela Sanders - Chair
Academic with a specialist interest in
the sex industry and being involved with Genesis enables me to put the theory
into practice whilst advocating for women’s rights.
Kate Brown - Vice Chair
Community Services
Manager at Leeds Women’s Aid. Previously worked for a project very similar to
genesis as a project worker.
Bill Hartley - Company Secretary / Treasurer
A chartered accountant with a career in the profession and
in business. Attracted to Genesis by the strength of its purpose.
Cynthia Whitworth
I am a retired
employment law adviser, so my skills are generally in advising the
manager regarding staff issues, employment contracts, interviewing,
updating and writing policy documents etc.
Dr. Anne Bennett
I became a trustee because I was interested in the strategic
direction of Genesis having been involved in joint work with them on an
outreach basis.
Liz Schweiger
I have been involved as a trustee for 3 years. My initial
interest began through a friend who was involved 14 years ago.
Dr. Janet Wilson
I have been a trustee almost from the outset of
Genesis. I chose Genesis because it provides services to a marginalised,
criminalised and otherwise neglected group of vulnerable women and it very much
relates to my professional work as a consultant at the Centre for Sexual
Health.
Doug Martin
Researcher in children's services. Previously worked in policy development and implementation, central and local government.
Safina Iqbal
Currently works as drugs worker within the
criminal justice systems. I work closely with the specialist women's
services. My previous roles have included providing harm reduction
support for sex workers and young people involved in sexual
exploitation.
